School Council Workshops

Introduction
Congratulations to school councils who have held successful elections and are now focusing on supporting parents and students through an array of events and activities. Each year the Parent and Community Engagement Office provides workshops across the system to support the important work of school council.

Public Engagement welcomes you to another school year at the TDSB. We look forward to working with new and returning school council members.

At the moment, there are no School Council workshops planned.  Check in the future for more opportunities.

Workshops

School Council Basics will look at everything you need to know to set up and to run a school council - Regulation 612, funding, elections, budgeting.

School Council ByLaws takes a close look at how to write bylaws for your community - what needs to be in it, what you can add, what you must consider.

School Council Effectiveness examines how to run an effective council - committees, volunteers, communication and engaging families. It will help you begin to the engage families in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them.

The target audience is any member of a school council and/or parent involved in school council work. This could include Principals, teachers, support staff and/or committee chairs/members.
