Ward 9 PIAC Candidates:
| Name |
Expression of Interest |
| Sarah Brager |
As Co-Chair of School Advisory Council since the 2021/22 school year, I am highly involved and interested in the wellbeing of my children, the students at their school, as well as the parents/caregivers. I am also interested in maintaining relationships with teachers, administrators, principals, superintendents and elected trustees to further my ability to bridge the gap between school and home. I would like to make a larger contribution, have my ideas heard, and make a difference within public education. My three children's education from JK-high school depends on it, and I plan to show them how to make a difference and show up. |
| Zabrina Hossain |
I am passionate about education and deeply committed to supporting our public schools. As co-chair of the parent council at Charles G Fraser, I have worked closely with families and educators to advocate for meaningful improvements in our school community. Professionally, I have spent the past 20 years working in technology at incredible companies like Shopify and Wealthsimple, leading teams and driving innovation. Now, I want to bring that experience, along with my dedication to public education—which I personally benefited from—to help shape a stronger future for all students. As a mom to a nine-year-old and a four-year-old in our city's schools, I know we can do more to support our children, and I am eager to collaborate with other parents and the school board to make a real impact. |
| Andrew Victor Massey |
Hi, I'm Andrew Massey, a communications professional based in downtown who works in public transportation. As a Co-Representative in Ward 9’s PIAC, I want to focus on making communications more effective and accessible for everyone.
The TDSB offers great information and advice to parents and School Councils, but sometimes, it gets lost in the noise of everyday life. As a writer and editor by trade, I want to contribute by joining the Communications Working Group to improve overall communications effectiveness.
I used to work overseas as an English teacher and have lived in Ward 9 since returning to Toronto in 2015. My child attends Ogden Jr. Public School, and I am a voting member on its School Council.
I believe that better communications are key to supporting our children's learning, both at home and at school.
Let’s work together to make real positive changes! |
| Bilqis Williams |
My name is Bilqis Williams and I am a grateful mother to a grade 1 student at Perth Avenue JPS. I am an immigrant and internationally trained medical doctor and now serve as one of the 3 Compliance Analysts for Ontario’s Fairness Commissioner,
regulating all 41 professional colleges and oversight bodies of health and non-health professions. I also serve as Director of the Canadian Public Health Association as well as Co-Chair of the United MusliMs Association (UMMA).
I am confident that the ward will my skills and experiences as a mother, community member and professional useful in the elevation of TDSB’s vision for the greater providence. |
| Frida Zemer |
I have been involved in the parent council at my children's school for the last three years as a voting member and treasurer. I have many years experience building community and bringing people of all walks of life together as well as strategy building and budgeting skills. I would like to get more involved in working with the TDSB to meet their priorities for student achievement and belonging. |
