Who Are Students With Special Needs?
A student with special needs is one whose behavioural, communicational, intellectual, physical or multiple exceptionalities are such that he/she is considered to need special education support.
Who Are the Members of SEAC?
The Committee consists of representatives from local associations, community representatives, and trustees all appointed by the Board.
How Can SEAC Help Me?
SEAC members are available as a resource for parent(s) or guardian(s) of students with exceptional needs, schools, educators and the community. Many SEAC members are themselves parents of children with special needs.
When and Where Are SEAC Meetings Held?
The Toronto District School Board and SEAC invite all parents, guardians and interested members of the public to observe Special Education Advisory Committee meetings. Meetings are held in the Board Room of the Education Centre at 5050 Yonge Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
How Can I Make My Perspective Known to SEAC Members?
SEAC members welcome your input. Simply visit the SEAC Membership page for the membership list and contact information. Alternatively, you can email questions to the SEAC Liaison, Lianne Dixon at: Lianne.dixon@tdsb.on.ca. If you wish to make a more formal presentation at a SEAC meeting on a matter pertaining to SEAC's mandate, send an email to either the SEAC or to the SEAC Liaison with your request, at least 10 days in advance of the meeting.
