The most identifiable feature of the ELT program is the Job Developer Partnership, where each student is assigned to an expert human resource professional (a job developer or JD), and both the student and the JD work together to find work placement opportunities.

The ELT program is successful because it addresses the most critical factors for securing jobs for newcomers. First, the instructor and job developers ensure that a candidate's CV (resume) is in line with Canadian workplace standards and can pass the ATS system (ATS stands for Application Tracking System - a software that filters the resumes before passing it to human resource personnel). Second, it develops interview techniques and confidence so that you can perform best once you get an interview opportunity. Third, it teaches the Canadian workplace culture and communication so that you can blend well in the Canadian workforce.

On the other hand, the ELT program helped me to bridge the gaps as an internationally trained professional. For example, I attended an accounting class, and I had a sector-specific teacher who was a Chartered Professional Accountant and an expert in the accounting field. He taught us Canadian Accounting standards, Accounting Software, Payroll, and Tax. IT, Engineering, and other classes also had related sector-specific instructors.

If you ask me about my takeaway from this course, I will say that I met the most wonderful people and created my first reference point in Canada, where I will always be welcomed and get any support I need.

I will recommend the ELT program to everyone who needs support to get into the Canadian workplace.
