Your Human Rights at the TDSB
The Toronto District School Board is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, positive learning and working environment, free of harassment and discrimination, where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.
Here, you'll find tools and resources needed to access and fulfill your rights and responsibilities at the TDSB. This work is supported by the Human Rights Office ("HRO"), who's mission is to enable, support, and inspire the creation and preservation of a proactive, inclusive, and transformational culture of human rights at TDSB in which all members of the TDSB community can:
- Equitably flourish with dignity and respect; and
- Achieve equitable outcomes in TDSB learning and working environments free from discrimination and harassment.
We aim to to do this through:
- Transformation – we are committed to acknowledging long-standing inequities and advocating for systemic change to create environments that center human rights.
- Collaboration – we recognize the importance of engaging with stakeholders and partners in an accessible, sensitive, and meaningful way.
- Fairness – we strive to conduct our work with professionalism, transparency, and integrity, ensuring to uphold due process.
- Support – we support the TDSB through sharing human rights expertise, analysis, advice, and education.
This work is supported and guided by the Ontario Human Rights Code. The Human Rights Code is for everyone. It is a provincial law that gives everybody equal rights and opportunities without discrimination in areas such as jobs, housing, and services. The Code’s goal is to prevent discrimination and harassment on the basis of protected grounds and protect the rights of historically and presently marginalized groups. You can find a full list of protected grounds in the TDSB Human Rights Policy and Ontario Human Rights Code All other Ontario laws must comply with the Code.
