Settlement and Support Services
Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) also known as SEPT offer settlement services to newly arrived families and secondary school students in schools’ satellite and reception centres. Please connect with a Settlement Worker that is attached to your school area.

This is an organisation that provides information and resources on education, immigration and citizenship, housing and much more. Resources are offered in multiple languages.
Newcomer Services
This government website helps to locate free settlement services for new immigrants and refugee families.
Costi
This organisation offers a variety of services for newcomers as well opportunities to support newcomers.
Strides Toronto: Newcomer Youth Engagement Program
For youth between the ages of 12-21, this organisation offers orientation and welcoming programs.
TDSB Welcoming Communities
Welcoming Communities is a structured mentorship program that operates within TDSB schools - at no cost to students or the school.
YMCA - Newcomer Information Centre
This organisation offers in-person and online services for youth and their families.
Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture
This organisation provides resources and opportunities for newcomers to heal from trauma.
Resources to support academic goals:
TDSB Virtual Library
Students and parents can access thousands of books and online resources for free. Students need their login and password to view these resources even while they are not at school. For more help about using these resources, please reach out to the Teacher Librarian at your child’s/ward’s school.
Toronto Public Library
Residents of Toronto can use any of the Toronto Public Library branches or their online resources. Toronto Public Library includes resources in a variety of languages. Please see your local branch for more details and how to set up an account.
TVO Mathify
This website offers free tutoring for students from grade 4 to 12 for Ontario students.
